Improved eBay experience for Top-Rated sellers

eBay’s Top-Rated sellers will benefit from new features and services announced during last month’s eBay Open conference held in Las Vegas

The Multi-User Account Access and Terapeak pricing integration will significantly help sellers manage and grow their businesses while offering them a higher level of protection. eBay’s mission is to be the world’s favorite destination for discovering great value and a unique selection of products, but Amazon has become the leader in online sales, with no sign of slowing down.

Talking about Amazon, the e-commerce giant is on its way to conquer the world. Just to put things into perspective, last year, Amazon’s share of the US e-commerce market hit a record-breaking 49% – basically, more than Amazon’s top three competitors combined, with eBay coming in at 6.6%, Apple at 3.9% and Walmart at 3.7%.

Also, each month, more than 197 million people from across the globe visit Amazon.com.

The demand for these seller protection tools was huge, as more and more top eBay sellers feared their business account could get compromised and thus lose a lot of money. It’s never easy to manage an online business, especially when the competition is fierce, so eBay’s feature update must be seen as an attempt to keep most of the platform’s best sellers in place by offering them what they wanted.

“Our sellers have told us that we need to do more to have their backs when they do everything right but something still goes wrong. We’re committed to making significant investments in protecting our sellers and I’m delighted that today we’re announcing these new protections”, said Wendy Jones, eBay Senior Vice President, Global Operations.

Multi-User Account Access allows sellers to offer access to their Seller Hub in a more private and secure way by adding employees or delegates to perform seller activities on their behalf. Business owners are protected by the fact that they will remain the only ones with full access to their account features, even with the launch of Multi-User Account Access.

Sellers will be able to delegate editing, drafting and publishing access for their listings to their employees. Both the seller and the employee will gain from the boost of security and privacy for their eBay account.

“Later this year, we will enable more permissions including shipping support for sellers to delegate. eBay is among the first e-commerce companies to enable this feature at scale, beginning with this roll out in the U.S.”, said said Wendy Jones.

For its top-rated sellers located in the United States, that also offer 30-day returns, eBay has now introduced two new financial protection measures.

The first one refers to issuing a seller invoice credit which should cover the return label cost in case a buyer makes a wrongful “item not as described” claim. The second one refers to allowing top-rated sellers to issue partial refunds for all items that are returned damaged. These measures will be live in the U.S. starting from October the 1st this year.

On top of that, eBay made it easier for all of its sellers to report buyers who fail to respect eBay’s policies and has created a simple, clear set of consequences in case something goes wrong. These measures are being rolled out in the U.S. starting from this month.

The other major news for eBay top-rated sellers is the Terapeak integration. Starting this month, all sellers located in the United States who have a Basic, Premium, Anchor and Enterprise eBay Store Subscription will have access to Terapeak’s pricing insights in a new Research tab within Seller Hub.

Terapeak provides demand and pricing data to help e-commerce sellers know what a product is worth, how to source if looking to expand and how to competitively price each listing. Terapeak, a company that was acquired by eBay two years ago, also provides sellers with up to one year of the pricing information.

eBay representatives say this is just the beginning of the Terapeak integration, as more insights will be added into the tool by the end of this year.

You can have multiple users set up on your Ad-Lister account as well, so you can keep track of your employees. The Multi-Account feature also improves the security of your platform accounts – it allows the creation of limited access users who won’t be able to change the live listing state of your items on eBay, Amazon or websites.
